SELF-CHECKOUT SIMULATOR

Certified by the Department of Autonomous Retail Compliance. Est. 2026. Every scan logged, every alert expected.

About the Department

The Department of Autonomous Retail Compliance exists to formalize a particular kind of silence: the one that follows a beep, just before a red light starts flashing. We did not invent the unexpected item. We simply started logging it.

Alert Methodology

Every scan is reviewed independently by the kiosk's own judgment. An item placed exactly where instructed may still register as unexpected. This is not a bug report. It is the full specification.

On the Self-Service Patience Index

The Index begins at a respectable number and is permitted to travel in exactly one direction. Calling an attendant does not restore it. Removing the item does not restore it. Nothing restores it. This is by design, and the design has never once been questioned internally.

Standing Policy on Attendant Calls

An attendant has been notified. This notification is itself the entire service. Further calls are logged, certified, and placed at the end of a queue that does not move. The Department thanks you for your continued, unassisted participation.
